The Art of Back Bending and Inversion with Brian Cooper
21st & 22nd August 2010
Ingleton Village Hall, Darlington DL2 3HL
Sat AM: 11:00-13:00 Sat PM: 14:30-16:30
Sun AM: 10:00-12:00 Sun PM: 14:00-16:00
Saturday: Back-bending asanas are energizing,
challenging and best of all, very satisfying. However, many students feel
they are not ‘ready’ to practice them and this is a pity.
Everyone can learn to back bend and progress towards ever more challenging
postures. Brian will be showing how an understanding of the mechanics
involved makes it possible for backbends to be accessible and fun. In
this work-shop we will
be exploring a wide range of asanas and create skills that may be incorporated
into personal practice.
Sunday: Inversions – invaluable techniques to
build strength in arms, shoulders, chest, abdomen, and back. Apart from
profound physical benefits inversions also increase mental focus, give
new insights and help promote confidence as those supposedly ‘impossible’
challenges are met. Learn the skills and find fulfilling new ways to work.
Minimum requirements: at least two year’s yoga practice.
Two days: £66, or £60 for members BWY, Union Yoga Members
or Yoga Alliance (UK Members Only).
Single days: £36 or £32 for members.
About Brian Cooper
The ancient art and science of yoga is as powerful now as it was thousands
of years ago. Unlocking its secrets requires patience, perseverance and
intense study. After three decades, Brian continues on his path of exploration
and discovery. He teaches directly from his personal experience and studies
and runs teacher training courses approved by Yoga Alliance UK, which
is dedicated to setting and maintaining high standards of teaching yoga
in Britain and Europe. His book ‘The Art of Adjusting’ written
specifically for yoga teachers includes many ways of working towards back
bends both independently or
with a partner.
