Benefits of Yoga

Muscles and ligaments: Asanas give a slow, non-violent stretch which stimulates and improves circulation, prevents a build-up of lactic acid and corrects poor posture which develops over time. It is also very good for increasing flexibility, strength and overall muscle tone.

Skeleton: Frees joints, corrects alignment, strengthens spine and releases pressure from inter vertebral discs. A good saying in yoga is ‘you’re only as young as you’re spine!!’

Circulation: Massages and strengthens the heart improving cardiovascular endurance and stimulates stagnant areas from lack of exercise such as the hips.

Nerves: Believed to remove toxins, increase neuro-transmission, stabilise responses of nervous system to stress. Yoga gives you an added advantage for dealing with the fast pace of modern living and staying calm in stressful situations which may occur i.e. traffic jams. It helps reduce involuntary symptoms such as sweating, anxiety, racing heart and muscular tension.

Glands: Regulates hormonal production and aids cleansing of the glands, improving their function as overall balance.
Mind: Gives increased clarity to thought, concentration, insight, decision making skills and overall awareness of yourself and the world around us.

Emotions: Brings calmness, inner strength and peace and an ability to manage difficult situations more skillfully.

Immune System: Balances and strengthens, increases effectiveness of immune cells and ability to fight chronic infection. Stimulates the glands and lymph nodes.

Breathing: Improves which in turns increase circulation, digestion, calmness, giving us extra energy and vitality for life in general.
